Freer Gallery of Asian Art

Smithsonian Institution
Washington, DC

The Freer Gallery of Asian Art houses one of the most renowned collections of Asian art in the world. Designed in 1905 by Charles Platt, the building provides a serene environment for the study of art. Cole & Denny Architects was commissioned to renew the interior galleries, restore the courtyard and upgrade lighting, fire protection, power, HVAC and security systems to meet contemporary standards. In addition, the original roof and skylights were replaced and the 350-seat Eugene & Agnes E. Meyer auditorium was fully renovated.
